On Tuesday’s early morning, regime’s security forces arrested Palestinian marxist Salamah Keelah from his house in Damascus. These news have been reported by the head of the Syrian Center For Legal Studies and Researches, lawyer Anwar Al Bunni.

Al Bunni told France Press that “personnel from one of the security branches in Syria (branch they belong to is unknown) arrested this morning (at 2:00 am.) well-known activist and Marxist Salameh Keelah. The reason behind his arrest remains unknown.

Head of the center condemned the detainement of Keelah and said that “this does not only aim to suffocate freedom of expression but to also fight thoughts.” He demanded the release of most detainees, including Salameh Keelah, who suffers from a chronic disease and has a bad health condition.

Activists launched a Facebook page, demanding the release of Keelah. Salameh Keelag was born in 1955 in Birzeit city, Palestine. He graduated from Baghdad University in 1979, holding a Bachelor Degree in Political Sciences. He previously spent 8 years in Syrian dungeons.

Note that he writes for several journals and magazines.

UPDATES:

Photo taken on Monday, 14/5/2012.

Salameh Keelah got released on 10th of May, 2012 and forced to leave Syria immediately. Just like every other Syrian who becomes victimized and sent to regime’s dungeons, Salameh Keelah got severely beaten up and tortured. He recounted horrific scenes he witnessed in his journey in 3 different security branches and a hospital, which he said that it was “just another security branch where people are tortured to near death, but regime’s forces do not let them die.” Although Salameh Keelah underwent the unbearable, he said that his treatment was much better than that of Syrians in dungeons.

The torture Salameh Keelah went through should stand up as concrete evidence that Assad’s regime knows no resistance and never keened for the Palestinian plight. The “resistance” and the “steadfastness in the face of Israel” Assads used to assert are fraud history.
